LBVCC in the Essex County Indoor Finals!

31/12/2025

Chelmsford, Sunday 4 January 2026 — Little Bardfield Village Cricket Club (LBVCC) will take to the indoor carpet at Essex County Cricket Club this Sunday for the Essex Indoor Cricket Finals Day, a reward for topping the Herts & Essex Indoor Cricket League in 2024.

The club claimed the indoor title after a brilliant winter campaign, winning eight of nine matches and finishing ahead on net run rate to secure their place in this prestigious final stage.

However, prep for the county finals has been anything but straightforward, or even existent. With many of the squad from the 2024 winning side currently sidelined through injury — the team hasn't actually played an indoor fixture in over a year.

When asked about his teams preparations, Will Slemmings (LBVCC Indoor Captain) commented:

"We're taking a leaf out of the England teams very relaxed ashes prep book - Noosa was a bit far but we have some dodgy videos of Daz slurring his words after a night in the Vine the other day which we hope will help him focus. The rest we'll leave to a couple of stretches pre game and hope for the best."

Despite lack of prep, spirits are high and confidence remains strong among players and supporters alike. Bardfield's qualification for Finals Day is testament to last season's indoor success and the club's renewed and enduring passion for the game.

The finals get underway at Essex CCC Indoor Cricket Centre in Chelmsford on Sunday 4 January with our semi-final fixture taking place at 11am vs Buckhurst Hill CC, with the winners of both semi-finals playing a final at 1pm. Any spectators are welcome to join but reminded there is a pay and display car park in operation at the County Cricket ground.
